Most of you out there have used Vaseline at least once in your lifetime. But for those who don't know what Vaseline actually is, it is a brand for petroleum jelly. Even though this brand has extent their product to selection of skin cream, lotion soap and personal lubricant, people will still think of the classic petroleum jelly every time Vaseline is mentioned.
Vaseline was found in 1870 by Robert Chesebrough. The Big Apple chemist intended to make a fortune as an oil prospector but he discovered the petroleum jelly or also known as "rod wax" by accident. The wonder jelly had become staple to the US citizen. In 1943, New York Times reported that Vaseline helped severe burn victims healed and survive. US military used Vaseline to protect their soldiers wound while healing during the great World War II.

For dry skin/lips
Tip :It is not Greek to us to use Vaseline on the dry area of our body and also on the chapped lips.
Trick: Apply Vaseline on the dry area and the lips before going to sleep. This helps the skin to heal and to be moisturized while sleeping.
For face
Tip: Most of the celebrity including Tyra Banks use Vaseline as sleeping mask.
Trick : After washing your face, lather a small amount of Vaseline all over it. Your skin will feel well moisturized on the next morning. You can skip your moisturizer if you feel like Vaseline is enough.
For eyes
Tip: There is always the time when you realized your favorite eye cream is gone and it's almost midnight and Seven Eleven does not sell Bobbi Brown!! But no worries, use Vaseline as an eye cream substitute or in this case, eye gel substitute.
Trick : Apply Vaseline as you apply your regular eye cream. Use ring finger when dealing with your eye area because the skin on that area is very gentle. Ring finger provide the least amount of pressure compared to other fingers.
For nails
Tip: Vaseline is good for your cuticle owing to the fact that it is very moisturizing and also helps your nail polish to last longer.
Trick: Massage Vaseline on your cuticle and nails after your nail polish is dry. You can use the same trick even if you don't wear nail polish.
As beauty balm
Tip: Vaseline can act as beauty balm and also as makeup remover. Nearly all beauty balms are very pricey and it is so difficult to find the ones that really remove heavy makeup thoroughly. Vaseline really helps removing heavy makeup since it is an oil based product. It breaks down almost all kind of formulas including the waterproof ones.
Trick: Coat your face with a generous amount of Vaseline. Let the product sit for at least 10 seconds. Massage your face for a few minutes. I usually do it for about 15 minutes. Be gentle on your eye area. After finish massaging, wet your facial towel in warm water and wipe off the Vaseline from your face. If there is some residue left on your eye area, take a cotton bud, dip it into Vaseline and clean the residue. You'll be amazed with how clean and soft your skin feels. This is by far my favorite use of Vaseline.
For hair
Tip: Vaseline is widely used backstage during fashion week by designers. One of the common uses is to tame baby hair or they call it "hair line" I suppose?!?? They also use Vaseline to build a very polish and sleek updo by applying Vaseline onto the hair to create the gorgeous shiny finish.

Trick: Vaseline also helps in treating major split ends. Apply a tiny amount of Vaseline on your hair tip. Be careful! Don't put too much of Vaseline or your hair will end up looking greasy!!
For make up
Tip: You can create various makeup looks with Vaseline. Marilyn Monroe was famous for using Vaseline as a base before putting on foundation. The iconic american actress, singer and model used the trick to create a lovely glowy finish. This technique create a soft focus look which made her face appeared very flawless on camera.
Trick: Apply Vaseline over eye shadow to create a very modern polish look. You can also use Vaseline to highlight your cheekbone. This method compliments neon lips so well!
